THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Kym Jackson, creator of Unique Urban Rocks, is pleased to announce Unique Urban Rocks is the official Jewelry Sponsor for the 2015 Miss Houston Teen and Miss Houston preliminary competitions.

Contestants adorning Jackson's jewelry will just not be wearing some of the finest real gemstones, but they will also be wearing jewelry with a purpose. Her collection of handmade jewelry is named after her son, Blake, who has autism. With each piece of jewelry Jackson sells, she has an opportunity to share her family's journey with autism and connect with other families impacted by it. A portion of all the jewelry sales is also donated to autism awareness.

And for Jackson, having the opportunity to have young women in the Miss Houston Teen and Miss Houston pageant wear her jewelry truly brings everything full circle. Jackson was the First Runner Up in the 1986 Miss Texas USA pageant and was Mrs. Texas United America in 2005 and Mrs. Texas in 2007.

"It just seems meant to be," Jackson said. "With me being in pageants, judging pageants and being a designer, I know what the girls need and what the judges are looking for. I know the feelings the girls will have about having the right jewelry for the competition and I will be able to help them wear the perfect piece. And with that, I'll be able to explain to them why it's the perfect piece."

Jackson's jewelry is handcrafted and carefully designed using only real gemstones. Unique Urban Rocks has been on the pageant scene before; Jackson's goddaughter, Crystle Stewart, was Miss USA and Jackson provided her jewelry during her time in pageants.

"I am so excited to be able to be a part of this and have Unique Urban Rocks on a larger platform," Jackson said. "This is an opportunity for people to see my jewelry and see the many different facets of my jewelry. It's not just street wear but it is also pageantry, it's for models, and it's for everyone."

Her passion to spread awareness about autism spurred the Miss Houston pageant to take on autism as one of the charities supported.

The Miss Houston Teen and Miss Houston pageant will take place April 2-4 at the Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel. For more information on Unique Urban Rocks, you can visit Jackson at her booth during the pageant or visit her website www.shopuniqueurbanrocks.com.
