THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The co-owners and co-founders of Avante Laser & MediSpa, Stacey Upchurch and Mary Ann Urban, are celebrating fifteen years of being the largest and longest-running medical spa in the area, with locations in both Houston and The Woodlands. Avante offers traditional spa treatment services such as facials and skin care, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, massage therapy, electrolysis, photo rejuvenation and skin tightening, and even manscaping. As a state-of-the-art medical spa, however, it also offers professional services such as laser hair removal for both light and dark skin tones, CO2 laser skin resurfacing, body contouring and cellulite reduction, tattoo removal, and the vanguard Laser 360™ skin resurfacing and rejuvenation treatment.

“Our unique position as a leading medical spa helps put us on a higher level than the traditional day spa,” Upchurch said. “Our treatments are more corrective and therapeutic than typical treatments, and our products are certified pharmacy grade. We employ licensed medical staff who are experts in their respective fields.” In fact, Upchurch and Urban used their thirty-plus years’ experience in the industry to proactively inspire a law to be put in place requiring state licensing for operators of laser treatments. “As technology progresses, it is vital that the staff using this technology is properly trained,” Upchurch said.

From their office in the Woodlands Avante location on Pinecroft at Research Forest, Upchurch and Urban reflect on Avante’s humble beginnings. “It was August of 2000 when the two of us started our operation in a small, 934-square-foot space,” said Upchurch with a laugh.

“We never dreamt we’d grow at the rapid pace that we did, and that within one year we’d be inspired to open a second location. That we became the largest and longest-operating medical spa in the area is a true testament to our philosophy and dedication,” added Urban.

Another little-known fact about Avante is its school of training for laser hair removal, body contouring, tattoo removal, vein reduction, photofacial, skin tightening and skin resurfacing. The Avante Laser Training Institute of Texas offers a state-approved curriculum to its students so they can provide the best care and latest technology for clientele. “Our students learn the technology as well as garnering hands-on experience in multiple facets of our treatments,” says Upchurch.
