THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Community Partners of Montgomery County (CPMC) will receive partial funds for the months of April, May, and June generated from the parking meters located on Market Street in The Woodlands, TX. The funds will be used to help provide much needed clothing, diapers, shoes, blankets and child safety items for abused and/or neglected children under the care of the Child Protective Services (CPS) in Montgomery County.

These funds will be used to help provide much needed clothing, diapers, shoes, blankets and child safety items for abused and/or neglected children under the care of the Child Protective Services (CPS) in Montgomery County.

In addition to the Change for Charity program, The Woodlands Car Club holds a charity car event called The Woodlands Car Club Cars & Coffee for a Cause, which will meet at Market Street the first Sunday of each month from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., to provide a fun and creative way to give back to our community.

The purpose behind this event is for TWCC to provide a morning gathering to show off their special vehicles within the car club, be a supportive partner with Market Street and the local community, share information about needful non-profit organizations in Montgomery County, and to give back monetarily as well. TWCC will be collecting coins/change to donate to the Market Street “Change for Charities” program that will benefit Community Partners of the Montgomery County (CMPC).

CPMC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that maintains the 'Rainbow Room' in the local CPS office in Conroe, TX. The Rainbow Room is stocked with new items for children ... such as clothing (infants through teens), diapers, baby formula, baby food, hygiene items, shoes, blankets, child safety items (car seats, safety gates, child proofing kits, temporary bedding, etc.), snacks, juice, books, stuffed animals, etc. These items are provided for the CPS Caseworkers to use as needed in support of the children under their care. A recent initiative to prevent suffocation as a result of co-sleeping with an adult or older sibling is to provide a bed for every child in need of one. Over the past five years in the State of Texas there was an annual average of 166 such infant deaths due to co-sleeping.

In 2004, Market Street established “Change for Charity” a program to raise funds for local charitable organizations in The Woodlands community. The funds are generated from a portion of the coins collected from the parking meters at Market Street. It is through this program that Market Street attempts to support the efforts of those non-profit organizations in the local community who are making a difference in the lives of those in need. Market Street believes in social obligation to the community and the Change for Charity program helps all of us to be a part of fulfilling that obligation.

The Woodlands Car Club was founded in March 2001 by a local group of car enthusiasts to create friendships, fellowship, foster relationships with local business and community, create awareness for and give back to local non-profit organizations in Montgomery County.
