SPRING, Texas - A half-century serving the community’s aeronautical needs and the David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport is celebrating the anniversary this Saturday, June 27. The extravaganza will be hosted at Gill Aviation located at 20803 Stuebner Airline, almost equidistant between I-45N and SH 249, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.

A half-century of serving community's aeronautical needs.

One of the largest private airports in the country, it stands as a memorial to the son of the original owners, Charles and Irma Hooks, who renamed it after their son was killed in a plane crash. In 1989 the airport was sold to the Gill family, and is owned and operated by Jag Gill of Gill Aviation.

The amenities at the airport have grown to include flying schools, charter aircraft, mechanic services, and serves as the base for the Gulf Wing of the Commemorative Air Force where their pride and joy, the vintage B-17 “Texas Raiders” is maintained. Flights on the B-17 and other vintage planes will be available at the anniversary celebration, at the usual rates.

The festivities will also include food and games for all ages, a water slide and a dunk tank, so pack your swimwear for the trip.
