UPDATE:

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas - The impromptu fundraiser Saturday at the Tractor Supply Company in Tomball, to benefit the Houston SPCA, was a windfall per the coordinator, referred to on her Facebook page as SHe Goss.

Within less than a day, approval was obtained and the event coordinated, which netted thousands of dollars in monetary donations and supplies, according to She Goss.

“Spent my day collecting donations for the Justice for League Line Road horses Conroe,Texas,” SHe posted. “The satisfaction of helping the beautiful animals, got the approval from HSPCA at 1pm Friday, within 24 hrs, we managed to get thousands of dollars in supplies and donations. Everything was delivered by 3pm, so within 26 hours, we hit goals beyond our imagination.”

The Houston SPCA has taken on the daunting task of overseeing the veterinary care, feeding, and rehabilitation, of the neglected herd of horses seized from the Calico Dairy Farm on League Line Road north of Conroe, last week. The SPCA estimates that it will cost approximately $500,000 to treat and care for the 180 horses, dairy cattle, and goats, on the property, so large a project that they had to initiate a ‘seizure in place,’ taking 14 of the worst cases into their Houston location for immediate treatment.

“Due to the size of the rescue, they needed supplies quickly. A lot more is needed but we sure are off to a great start,” SHe posted on her Facebook page. “All I can say is our community Rocked It! Helping others for me includes helping horses when I can. Just made me a proud Texan again.”

This was the immediate start of initiatives to help the Houston SPCA with the mounting costs. The Facebook page which brought the plights of the neglected horses to the public’s attention, Justice for League Line Road horses Conroe,Texas, has started another one, a variation of the “ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.” For details read Horse bucket challenge issued to fund mounting costs of horse seizure.

Those participating are encouraged to post a pic on the Facebook site. Stay tuned for more community fundraisers for the Houston SPCA that may be posted.

“A special pat on the back to all the people who came out and donated today. Cannot thank each and every one of you enough! Thanks to everyone who came by to support and donate for these wonderful starving horses,” SHe Goss posted.

Another community donation collection will take place at J & D Country Store located at 4141 W. Davis Street in Conroe, Wednesday, July 1. New supplies, purchased supplies, and even used supplies, can be dropped off from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monetary donations can be made directly to the Houston SPCA, c/o Calico Dairy Horses, 900 Portway Drive, Houston, Texas 77024. (See additional links in original story contained here within.).

For large donations like feed and hay, or to volunteer, contact the admins via Facebook Messenger, or contact the Houston SPCA directly, to coordinate.

The progress on the seizure can also be monitored on the same Facebook page, as the admins are keeping the community updated with regular posts.
