CONROE, Texas - The Conroe ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved Darrin Rice as Chief Financial Officer at their October Board of Trustees Meeting.

“I would like to thank you for the opportunity to be the Chief Financial Officer for Conroe ISD,” began Mr. Rice, Executive Director of Finance, as he addressed the Board. “I have worked in the Finance Department for Conroe ISD for the past 25 years. I started as the Internal Auditor, transitioned to be Director of Finance, and now have the honor and privilege to lead the best Finance Department in the State; I am truly grateful.”

Aside from working as a public accountant for one year, Mr. Rice has spent the entirety of his career serving in Conroe ISD. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration with a Major in Accounting from Sam Houston State University and obtained the classification of Certified Texas School Business Official from the Texas Association of School Business Officials.

Supporting Mr. Rice at the Board Meeting were his wife, Julie, and his son, Jake. His daughter, Heather, is a junior at Southwestern University and was unable to attend.

Mr. Rice is assuming the position currently held by Dan Cox, who will retire in December after serving as Conroe ISD CFO for the past 13 years. In his statement, Mr. Rice said, “I would especially like to thank Mr. Dan Cox for his leadership and guidance over the last 13 years. Dan has been a great mentor to me, and everything that I have learned from him has not only helped me get to this point, but will continue to guide me in the future.”
