MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas - The Education for Tomorrow Alliance (EfTA) ‘Future Focus’ volunteers congregated for the purpose of focusing on the year in review, the future of the Focus program, and sharing good cheer during the holiday season. (See video)

As Future Focus program concludes, science fair is scheduled for Jan 22 - 29.

A volunteer appreciation breakfast at the Egg and I in The Woodlands, was attended by over a dozen of the in-classroom volunteers who present Future Focus (formerly CHOICES) project, a classroom-based curriculum designed to promote positive decision-making among junior high school students. The trained volunteer presenters offer interactive projects to help students realize how educational attainment impacts their options later in life. The program is intended to empower students and demonstrate that they have control over their daily decisions.

Christian explains that the program has changed over the years and will continue to evolve, based on societal changes.

The annual junior and senior high science fairs remain a key component of SCI://TECH, encouraging students to explore real-world questions through rigorous research, experimentation, summarizing of conclusions, and practice of presentation skills.

“We have four hundred more entries this year, than we had last year,” said EfTA President, Monica Bomkamp Enia. “We’ll definitely need more volunteers this year for science fair judges. We have three hundred senior high entries, and thirteen hundred junior high.”
