CONROE, Texas — Operation Pets Alive is hosting a huge three-day “End of Summer Adoption PAWty” at the Conroe PetSmart location this weekend, Friday August 26 through Sunday August 28, starting at noon on all three days. OPA volunteers will be on hand to match people up with their new furry friends. Puppies and kittens from OPA and local shelters will be available to go home with the right families right there on the spot. The all-weekend event will be located at 2900 Interstate 45 North in Conroe.

Operation Pets Alive! is a 501(3)(c) non-profit, all-volunteer organization striving to elevate Montgomery County to a No-Kill community through innovative programs that:

• Raise community awareness
• Reduce the number of dogs and cats that enter their shelters
• Increase the number of dogs and cats that leave their shelters alive

OPA does it through four core programs:

1) Ground and air transport of at-risk shelter animals via the organization’s “Flight for Life” and “Pups On Trucks” programs
2) Local foster and adoption programs
3) Trap-Neuter-Return of community cats
4) Low-cost targeted spay/neuter

The goal of the organization is to make a significant contribution to reduced killing in shelters through treatment of treatable animals, training, adoption, foster and rescue, and to make a significant contribution toward decreasing the number of pets entering shelters through spay and neuter, reclaim, retention and re-homing.
