Cooper School cheer squad ready to SHOUT
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The 20-member cheer squad from The John Cooper School had their own special spirit week on June 1-4 with a summer cheer camp presented by the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA).
The rigorous four-day cheer camp was designed to hone their skills in areas such as stunts, cheer, dance, pyramid and crowd participation.
“All of the girls did a great job, and worked very hard. Their improvement in skills over the four-day period was impressive,” said Marilu Harman, new head cheer coach for The John Cooper School. “They learned a great deal, and all deserve accolades for their hard work and dedication.”
As a team, the Dragons won a Superior Trophy for their overall camp experience. Individuals earning awards were:
- Alexa Signorelli - Best Overall in Dance; Superior in Top Girl for Stunts
- Grace Gawronski - Superior in Personality
- Kiyah Joseph - Superior in Back Spotting for Stunts
- Alexis Eckerson - Superior in Specialization of Stunt - “The Baja”
- Jenna Braun - Best Overall in Jumps; "Camper of the Week"
In addition, seniors Joseph, Signorelli and Michelle Tam were selected for UCA’s All-American Cheer Team qualifying them to compete in national events.
