MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- Leadership Montgomery County (LMC) Class of 2018, comprised of 45 leaders in the County, adopted SOS as their class project and accomplished some amazing things that will strengthen services and ministry to the community here in the Greater Magnolia area.

The Class rolled up their sleeves to expand the capacity of the Feed My Sheep Food Pantry. They purchased two 20’ refrigerated containers that hold perishables. They installed rolling doors on two existing containers for easier access which improve operations greatly. Accessibility for volunteers has improved with the placement of the containers and asphalt apron.

The class provided a 24’ x 36’ modular building that will be the Resource Center for SOS programs. This building will be used for many new things. The Career Center will be located here for job seekers to prepare and improve their resume, search on-line for job openings and apply, receive coaching and mentoring and on-going training – all provided by LMC Class of 2018, complete with computers, desks and chairs.

The Resource Center will hold food giveaways such as SOS Summer Snack Sacks for Magnolia ISD students, Thanksgiving and Christmas food giveaways, etc. Plans are in the works for Financial & Budgeting classes, Health Screenings, other agency visits, etc.

The Class has expanded job support services by providing collaborative services with Workforce Solutions who will team with SOS in the new Resource Center to provide career services on a regular basis in Magnolia so job seekers don’t have to drive to Conroe or Hwy. 290.

The Class assisted greatly with the implementation of new client management software and paid for the implementation costs. The Class made significant recommendations and manuals for improving volunteer development, marketing, fundraising and outreach including the creation of the new SOS logo.
