Society of Samaritans Job Fair draws more than 150 job seekers

MAGNOLIA, Texas -- More than 150 people attended the second annual SOS Job Fair organized by Society of Samaritans in Magnolia. Jobseekers met with 46 employers from education, law enforcement, banking, finance, home improvement services, food services, healthcare, hospitality, non -profits, staffing agencies and many others at the West Montgomery County Development Center on Friday, February 23.

“It was an amazing day! Feedback from the employers and people looking for jobs was very positive. Jobseekers loved the variety of companies. Employers sourced at least 92 potential employees to hire.” explained Shirley Jensen, coordinator of the SOS Job Fair. “MC-SHRM gave jobseekers the opportunity to have a “practice” interview with H.R. professionals and receive valuable feedback. Breakout groups learned how to develop a 30 second commercial about themselves and the top 3 things employers are looking for. We were able to have the event at no cost to employers. A huge THANK YOU to all the employers, volunteers and those in the community who made this event successful. Magnolia Economic Development Corporation sponsored marketing for the event. Chick-Fil-A, Pizzaiolo’s and Magnolia Diner provided a delicious lunch for our employers and volunteers.”

SOS will continue to provide career services at our offices in Magnolia as we partner with Workforce Solutions.
