THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Behavioral Health and Wellness Center is proud to announce and welcome Dr Ifeoma Nwugbana. Dr. Nwugbana is a Board Certified Psychiatrist.

She completed her Psychiatry Residency Training at Albert Einstein at Bronx Lebanon Hospital and received further training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center. Dr Nwugbana had previously been trained in Ireland at the Dublin University Psychiatry Residency Program and is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK and Ireland.

Dr. Nwugbana specializes in the treatment of ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety and Mood disorders. Her exposure to patients of various cultural and economic backgrounds contributes to her ability to perform a comprehensive evaluation and offer evidence based treatments. She recently moved to The Woodlands, together with her husband, who is a Pediatrician, and her two sons.

“I am excited to be joining a great team of professionals at The Woodlands Behavioral Health and Wellness Center this fall. I am passionate about providing excellent, wholesome and compassionate care, as I believe this is the key to any successful mental health treatment. I have special interests in treating ADHD, autism, depression and anxiety, and can provide specialist services to all age groups. I am looking forward to making The Woodlands my home and building great therapeutic relationships with my patients.”

In addition, The Woodlands Behavioral Health & Wellness Center welcomes Molly Thomason, Ph.D. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, with specialized training and coursework in both neuropsychology and health psychology subspecialties.

Dr. Thomason completed an APA-accredited internship in pediatric neuropsychology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center and then went on to complete a 2-year specialty fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital.

Dr. Thomason's clinical interests primarily include pediatric/young adult neuropsychological evaluations with patients who have a history of a wide variety of medical conditions, including, but not limited to: prematurity, prenatal exposure to substances, genetic disorders, congenital heart disease, epilepsy, brain tumor, cancer, concussion, traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, stroke, and encephalitis. She also has extensive experience in conducting diagnostic evaluations for presenting concerns of developmental delays, learning difficulties, attention problems, mood concerns, and behavioral difficulties.

Dr. Thomason is able to complete independent evaluations for special education services and admission evaluations for private schools. Clinical interests also include implementation of evidence-based interventions (i.e., cognitive-behavioral therapy, problem-solving skills training, parent management training) for children and adolescents with anxiety disorders, difficulty adjusting to medical diagnosis, and difficulty adhering to medication regimens. Finally, Dr. Thomason is currently developing a cognitive rehabilitation program for our practice to rehabilitate and accommodate difficulties with attention, executive function, and memory.

Dr. Thomason is a member of the American Psychological Association (Society for Clinical Neuropsychology and Pediatric Division), National Academy of Neuropsychology, and Texas Psychological Association.

“I am excited to join the interdisciplinary team at The Woodlands Behavioral Health and Wellness Center, as they have worked hard to provide comprehensive mental and behavioral health care to The Woodlands community and surrounding areas. Neuropsychological assessments are a highly specialized evaluation that has previously been available on a limited basis in The Woodlands. I am looking forward to the opportunity to bring this service to The Woodlands and surrounding areas, so that families no longer have to seek out these services in downtown Houston.

Additionally, I am eager to address another clinical need in our community by developing an evidence-based cognitive rehabilitation program to strengthen cognitive functioning and accommodate difficulties with attention, executive function, and memory. There are currently very limited options for families to obtain cognitive rehabilitation services in the entire greater Houston area. I am very passionate about my work and am so excited to meet and work with families in The Woodlands area!”

The Woodlands Behavioral Health & Wellness Center is a unique practice that uses a multimodal integrated team approach to treat the whole client and their significant others. The Integrated Treatment Model therefore focuses on parent counseling, family and marital therapy in addition to Individual therapy.
