MONTGOMERY, Texas -- Woodforest invites runners, joggers and walkers to burn some calories at the 2nd annual Turkey Trot, 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, before sitting down to the big feast.

Registration has opened for the event, which starts at Forest Island, 4665 Woodforest Parkway South.

“We hosted our first Turkey Trot last year,” said Holly Irwin, Director of Fun for Woodforest. “Everyone had such a good time, we decided to make it a holiday tradition. It’s just a great way to get the whole family out for some exercise and fun before digging into the turkey and pumpkin pie.”

Events include the Mashed Potato Mile for adults, a Harvest Half Miler for children ages 12 and under and a 5K Family Feast Walk/Run. Race fees are $25-$35. All runners will receive a long-sleeve shirt and a finisher medal. Participants can get registration information at https://www.woodforesttx.com/events.

Forest Island is the South Montgomery community’s 16-acre aquatics and tennis center complete with two tennis courts, a free-form amenity pool, a baby pool for small swimmers and a 42-foot slide tower as well as a fitness pool with five lap lanes, an area for aerobic exercise and sun deck.

Other amenities offered in the 3,000-acre master-planned community include the Woodforest Golf Club, Stampede Sportsplex, Admiral Bark Park and numerous trails and parks. Homes in the community are priced from the $180,000s to the millions.
