THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy (Legacy Prep) in The Woodlands, Texas has announced the valedictorian and salutatorian for their graduating class of 2019. Legacy Prep is excited to celebrate their sixth graduation ceremony at the end of this school year.

Allison Byrd has been named valedictorian and Grace Morris has been named salutatorian.

Legacy Prep is a University-Model School (UMS) comprised of grades pre-kindergarten through 12th. The school prepares students to be successful in college and life by providing a rigorous academic background that is rich in opportunities. Legacy Prep is a Christ-centered school that creates college- worthy, character witnesses for Christ.
Allison Byrd is graduating from Legacy Prep as valedictorian. She has attended Legacy Prep for eleven years. Byrd has been involved in Legacy Prep’s Student Council, National Honor Society, cheerleading squad, basketball team, and drama productions. Byrd will be attending the University of Oklahoma in the fall.

“I feel that Legacy has prepared me for my next step in life through its university-model program, which has taught me how to be independent, manage my time, and develop study skills that work for me. I will miss the close friendships I have made as well as the relationships I have developed with the teachers and staff throughout my years at Legacy,” stated Byrd.

Byrd received the University of Oklahoma award of excellence scholarship. She plans to major in biochemistry. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, Byrd hopes to pursue her masters, attend medical school, and become a surgeon.

“I hope that God will allow me to impact others through my love of medicine to both heal and minister,” Byrd added.

According to Legacy Prep principal Shannon Jones, “Allison is an incredible young lady and a very dedicated student. Learning comes naturally to Allison, but she does not take this for granted. She works very hard to ensure she does her best. There is no doubt that Allison will be a leader while in college and in her future career. We wish her the best of luck.”

Grace Morris is graduating as salutatorian and has attended Legacy Prep for five years. She will be attending Texas A&M University in the fall. Morris has participated in Legacy Prep’s basketball team and National Honor Society.

“Legacy’s schedule has helped me realize the importance of diligence in schoolwork. Next year, I will be much more prepared to schedule my own work and get things done in a timely manner. I will miss the people at Legacy. The teachers are so kind and really care for you, and the students are all so fun to be around,” said Morris.
Principal Jones added, “Grace takes school very seriously and has always been committed to doing her best. She has been a model student in the class and on campus. Grace is very competitive on the basketball court and a great team leader. She has a big future ahead of her.”
