Magnolia Inspired Service Day Volunteers Make an Impact!

MAGNOLIA, TX -- On Saturday, March 23, approximately 250 students, parents and administrators volunteered in the first district-wide service day event, Magnolia Inspired Service Day. This one-day, student-led event gave students, parents and staff an opportunity to give back and help those in need in our community.

Marcy Parker with Keep Magnolia Beautiful shared, “A good day for working in the dirt! The students, teachers and parents did a wonderful job! Go by the Malcolm Purvis Library and see how spruced up it is.Keep Magnolia Beautiful members purchased plants and supervised, MISD volunteers pulled weeds and planted new plants and spread 5 cubic yards of mulch provided by Commissioner Charlie Riley. Truly a community project!’”

Homer Allison with Servanthood Fellowship had several projects at his church and campground area including painting an old bus to turn into a jungle gym for children. He shared, “Wow! What a tremendous blessing it was to have so many students and adult leadership carve out 4 hours on a Saturday morning to serve within our community! A team of 14 arrived at our church/campground and got hard to work right away. Next thing ya know, two other teams were routed to us from other projects they had completed, so we were blessed with right at 40 eager, hard working people. The amount of work that got done was remarkable. We are so incredibly blessed by the selflessness of the folks who participated in the MISD Community Service initiative. Thank you to everyone who had anything to do with putting this together. I know it made such a huge impact on organizations like ours.”

Captain Justin Trimm with Magnolia Fire Department station 185 shared, “We thank you and your students so much for everything and all the awesome drawings and messages. It means so much to us to have such great support from all ages in the community.”

Service projects included Society of Samaritans (SOS) Little Twig shop, Purvis County Library, Stronger to Serve which benefited 5 additional Montgomery County non-profits, Wildwood United Methodist Church, Servanthood Fellowship and many other private homes and businesses.
