THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Governor Greg Abbott issued a press release on March 26, 2019 announcing four appointments to the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Board. Tammy McRae, Stacey Gillman and Charles Bacarissee were appointed for terms set to expire on Feb. 1, 2025. Stacey Washburn was also appointed for a term set to expire on Feb. 1, 2021. Guillermo “Memo” Trevino was appointed chair of the board. The appointments are scheduled to go before the Senate Nominations Committee on April 11 and a full Senate confirmation on April 23, 2019.

The nine- member TxDMV board is appointed by the Governor, who also designates one board member to serve as the Chairman. By statute, the board must include:

? 1 county tax assessor-collector
? 2 franchised auto dealers
? 1 independent auto dealer
? 1 representative from the vehicle manufacturing or distribution industry
? 1 representative from the motor carrier industry
? 1 county or city law enforcement representative
? 2 customer (public) representatives

The board oversees the agency and is responsible for setting policies.

TxDMV was created by the state legislature in 2009. Prior to its creation, Vehicle Titles & Registration fell under the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
“I am honored to have been chosen for this appointment and look forward to representing Tax Assessor- Collectors throughout the state,” said McRae.
