THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Four leading physicians have been named the “2019 Physicians of the Year” at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital. This year the hospital gave four awards – one representing each of Houston Methodist’s four pillars of excellence – safety, quality, service and innovation.

Departments within the hospital nominated physicians who epitomize excellence in each of the mentioned categories.

The award for ‘Unparalleled Safety’ was given to Dr. Adam Frome, who specializes in nephrology and serves as the chair of Medicine at Houston Methodist the Woodlands Hospital.

“It’s an honor to be recognized as a Physician of the Year. For me, it’s all about helping others and being service oriented; I try to exemplify that in one way or another,” said Frome.

Dr. Suzanne Stovall, board-certified in family medicine, specializing in integrative and functional medicine, and chair of Family Medicine at Houston Methodist The Woodlands, received the Physician of the Year award for ‘Unparalleled Quality.’

“To be recognized for providing quality care is all I could ever aspire to achieve as a physician,” said Stovall.
Dr. Peter Morgan received the award for ‘Unparalleled Service.’ Morgan is a radiation oncologist and medical director of Houston Methodist Cancer Center at The Woodlands.

“It’s my honor to get to be here and take care of patients in the cancer center; and I am humbled by this award. The idea that we cherish service just speaks to our culture, which is why I think patients choose to come here and why we have good outcomes,” said Morgan.

The award for ‘Unparalleled Innovation’ was given to Dr. David Marker, a specialist in interventional radiology and diagnostic radiology.
“It’s just great to be part of a team in which everyone, from the CEO to the nurses and techs, wants to be part of innovation and providing something great for the community. It’s innovation, but it’s also really good patient care,” said Marker.

“Safety, quality, service and innovation highlight our commitment to the community, and we are proud to recognize these outstanding physicians for their dedicated work and leadership in these areas,” said Debbie Sukin, CEO of Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital and regional senior vice president, Houston Methodist. “They all play a vital role in the Houston Methodist patient experience and furthering the success of Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital.”
