SHENANDOAH, TX -- The City of Shenandoah took initial steps in restructuring the Police Department by eliminating the Assistant Chief of Police position. After researching other cities of a similar size and receiving advice from the City’s human resources consultant, the position was found to be unnecessary. The money saved by eliminating this position will be used toward hiring an additional police officer who will serve the citizens of Shenandoah on patrol.

The Assistant Chief position was held by Barry Gresham for the last three years. “We thank Mr. Gresham for his service to the City of Shenandoah and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” said City Administrator Kathie Reyer. “We will continue to look at ways to improve our public safety efforts and the delivery of services to our residents.”
