MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- Momentum Title presented their 2nd Annual Habitat for Heroes Soiree benefitting Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County on November 11 to fund housing for a local veteran and his family.

“Momentum Title has raised enough money to build a house for a veteran family and there is one in queue”, said Vicki Johnson, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity Montgomery County. “Momentum’s support to build affordable housing means the world to Habitat MCTX and to the families who we serve. For someone to recognize a need and immediately take action is admirable, and we cannot thank Brian Brewer and Momentum Title enough for recognizing the need.”

Vicki Johnson continued, “According to National Low-Income Housing Coalition, nearly 4 million of our veterans pay at least 30 percent of their income toward rent or mortgage, while more than 1.5 million pay at least 50 percent. Every military family deserves a decent and affordable place to live. It is an honor for Habitat Montgomery County to partner with Momentum Title to work with this very special population.”

Brian Brewer and his team at Momentum Title are passionate about the veteran community and joined forces with Montgomery County Habitat in 2018 to build homes for veterans in need of housing. In the last two years, the event has raised more than enough to build a home for a hard-working veteran family in Montgomery County.

“The vision to help U.S. Military Vets is now becoming a reality. The people that have supported Habitat for Heroes believe in the people that have worn the uniform. We know they have stood and fought for Freedom. Now the community gets to come beside a Veteran and make affordable housing not just a dream, but it will now be a home. This is truly exciting and what makes it even more exciting is that this is the beginning, there is more to come,” boasted Brian Brewer, President of Momentum Title.

The first Veterans Build will be celebrated with a slab pour on Saturday, January 18, 2020 for the Linn Family. Families are rewarded with a slab after accumulating “175 hours of the required 350 hours of sweat equity”. Habitat for Humanity is a partnership with eligible families who become homeowners after investing hundreds of hours of labor alongside volunteers and paying an affordable mortgage to maintain their new home. Sweat equity may involve assistance on another home build, volunteer hours in the ReStore Shop.
The home will be built for the Linn Family.

“It is always heartwarming when someone recognizes your military service”, said Chris Linn, veteran from the Navy. “It is as humbling as it is appreciated. I encourage each of us to continually give gratitude to our military and first responders. Additionally, understand that you don’t have to wear a uniform to serve your community. I teach my family that we can help our fellow man by serving their needs. In the end, that feeling you get when serving others is far more precious than being recognized for your actions.”

Every family deserves the opportunity to have a safe, affordable home for a better, healthier, and stable life. Habitat provides a safe neighborhood, community social gatherings, opportunities to give back, and diminishes the fear of escalated mortgages.

Families are qualified based on need, willingness to partner with Habitat, and their ability to repay a mortgage in an affordable payment plan. Habit for Humanity finances the home in a 20-year interest-free mortgage.
