TOMBALL, TX -- Lone Star College-Tomball Community Library has partnered with Google to help the Tomball community learn digital skills via the Grow with Google initiative. Google trainer, Maria Elena Duron, will lead several online workshops in May 2020. These workshops are aimed to help small businesses grow and succeed in the online environment. All workshops will be streamed live, and all necessary information including the registration can be found on the LSC -Tomball Community Library Facebook page via the Events section: www.facebook.com/tomballlibrary

“This partnership allows LSC-Tomball Community Library and Grow with Google to help Tomball residents increase their digital skills at this critical time,” stated Karen Hiarker, Adult Program librarian for LSC-Tomball Community Library. “Google has been a wonderful partner and is committed to helping the Tomball community.”

LSC-Tomball Community Library is joined by Tomball Economic Development Corporation, Lone Star College-Tomball, Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce and Lone Star College Small Business Development Center. These organizations are partnering to bring online, digital skills to Tomball residents at a time when Tomball businesses and the community have migrated to online communication and retail buying.

“The Grow with Google workshops will be a great way for businesses to learn new skills to help them move toward a virtual business model,” said Kelly Violette, Executive Director of the Tomball Economic Development Corporation. “Our goal throughout the COVID-19 crisis has been to provide resources local businesses can use to continue operating.”

Workshops will help businesses focus on improving their online presence to reach customers and grow business through compelling online content promoting products and services. Appropriately, the initial workshop addresses managing a business remotely in uncertain times.

“Tomball is a community that comes together in tough times. I want to thank our local leaders and collaborators on this critical project — Dr. Lee Ann Nutt, Bruce Hillegeist, Miguel Lopez and Kelly Violette—for partnering on this initiative,” said Janna Hoglund, director of LSC-Tomball Community Library. “These community leaders are supporting us in bringing the workshops and equipping our community members with crucial skills and knowledge. Together we give back and make an impact in the community we love.”
