THE WOODLANDS, TX - The Woodlands Township will re-open Wendtwoods Pool to the public on Monday, July 27, 2020 from 2 pm to 8 p.m. The pool was temporarily closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, July 25, 2020.

“All safety and sanitization procedures have been completed, notifications made, and the pool is ready to re-open,” said Dr. Chris Nunes, Director of Parks and Recreation.

Due to the number of lifeguards in quarantine and as outlined in the COVID-19 Pool Closure Prioritization Plan, Forestgate Pool will be closed effective July 27, 2020.

Throughout the pool system, a number of guards are currently under quarantine, which reduces the number of guards available to staff the facilities. If guards are able to be cleared from quarantine protocols, the facility may be re-opened at a later date.

The Woodlands Township is working diligently to ensure the safety of all residents and visitors to Township pools, parks and amenities. Township staff members undergo daily temperature screenings upon reporting to work along with being asked a variety of questions regarding possible coronavirus exposure. The employee who tested positive was screened on July 24, 2020, and did not present with an elevated temperature.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to engage in self-checking before visiting any public area. Self-checking includes monitoring for symptoms such as fever, sore throat, coughing, shortness of breath, congestion and other associated symptoms. While in public, wear a face covering or mask, wash your hands frequently and stay six feet apart from others. If you suspect COVID-19 exposure, please contact your healthcare professional or your county health department to request a test, and limit your contact with others.
