THE WOODLANDS, TX - Last night, TownshipFuture PAC introduced candidates Chief Jimmie Dotson (Position No. 2), John Anthony Brown (Position No. 3) and Dr. Dan Hannon (Position No. 4) and announced TownshipFuture’s strong endorsement for these three solid candidates running for a position on The Woodlands Township Board of Directors. Vetting Committee Chair Ted Stanley cited the thoughtful and independent thinking demonstrated by these three community-minded leaders.

Chief Jimmie Dotson is a longtime resident of The Woodlands and former Chief of Houston ISD Police Department, Chief of Chattanooga (TN) Police Department and Assistant Chief of Houston PD who has worked collaboratively to great success. Citing Chief Dotson’s creation of The Woodlands’ “Community Policing” model, Mr. Stanley summarized that Chief Dotson “has witnessed and participated in much of The Woodlands history, his disciplined approach to problem solving and his ability to work across the board helps keep his eyes keenly on the future.  For his dedication, experience and vision, we proudly endorse Chief Jimmy Dotson for Position 2.” Chief Dotson can be found on Facebook at JimmieDotson2020Campaign.

John Anthony Brown currently serves on The Woodlands Township Board as well as on the Design Standards Committee, the Alden Bridge Village Association Board, as Vice Chair of “Visit the Woodlands”, the former Convention and Visitors Bureau. Mr. Stanley cited Director Brown’s support of the Board’s Resolution in favor of the recent CISD bond which was crucial to its passing. Also, “Director Brown has proven himself by his commitment to The Woodlands, his understanding of the history and governance of The Woodlands and his ability to make decision based on relevant facts.  We could have easily set aside Position #3 since only one candidate was running, but because Director Brown has a proven track record as a director and defender of the people, we proudly endorse John Anthony Brown in Position #3.” Director Brown can be found on Facebook at Brown for Township.

Dr. Dan Hannon is also a longtime resident of The Woodlands who founded Christ Church United Methodist Church (Research Forest Drive) and served as its Pastor and oversaw financial and operational aspects of this large church until his recent retirement. Mr. Stanley cited Dr. Hannon’s vision, explaining that “he sees the uniqueness of The Woodlands as something that should be replicated, not eliminated. Dr. Hannon’s vision for limited government and respect for the township’s history, puts him squarely ahead in his race. For his dedication to and experience in The Woodlands, and for his vision for our future, we proudly endorse Dr. Dan Hannon in Position #4.” Dr. Hannon can be found at Hannon for Township.

Mr. Stanley explained that the Vetting Committee relied on TownshipFuture’s Charter which sets forth its purposes including:

To encourage, recruit and support candidates for election to non-partisan offices affecting The Woodlands, Texas who have demonstrated:

1. A commitment to The Woodlands;
2. A basic understanding of the history and governance of The Woodlands; and
3. The ability to make decisions based on relevant facts in the best interests of all residents of The Woodlands'.

The Vetting Committee also considered each candidate’s commitment to TownshipFuture’s three governing principles:

• Low property taxes and high-quality services
• Limited, responsive government; and
• Respecting the Township’s history and character of caring for ALL residents

All three endorsed candidates met the Vetting Committee’s high standards for endorsement and the Committee’s recommendations were enthusiastically adopted by TownshipFuture’s Steering Committee.
