THE WOODLANDS, TX -- There are times when you visit a store and look back after visiting and you realize that those individuals that served you, those owners that run things, that place of business that you just purchased your new gift from is more than just a store. It is more than just brick and mortar. And it is more than just a place to purchase something. You realize that through the efforts of a few caring people, tucked away somewhere in the heart of The Woodlands is a place endeared to the community. A place you always enjoy visiting. A place you take your family to. And you know that those people are helping to make the community a little more enjoyable, a little more personal, and a little sweeter. A really great place to build family traditions.

Those types of businesses define what The Woodlands really is. A place where people can come together, work together and share life together.

One gentleman that has shared his life for many years with our community is Mr. Don Baker. He and his wife own and operate The Candy House candy store located in Panther Creek. He is approaching 90 years of age and faithfully comes in every day, always with a smile on his face, a conversation to offer his customers and of course, the best candy this side of Houston. He is a longtime resident of The Woodlands and is a cancer survivor and military veteran. He, like many business owners, has faced extreme difficulty in our pandemic-ridden 2020. His candy shop of more than 30 years was hit hard and without his community's help, he may be faced with having to shut down his business at the end of this month. As a community, we want to show this company some love and support in helping to keep their doors open. We want to show that through donations, increased traffic to their store and through encouraging messages.
