THE WOODLANDS, TX -- It was a rough night for The Woodlands as their 2020 season came to an end in Bryan. The Wylie Pirates beat the Highlanders 25-17, 25-20, 25-17 to advance to the Regional Finals.

Tuesday’s game was just the fourth defeat, and only the second time being swept all season. It also ends a 13-game winning streak for the Highlanders who previously hadn’t lost since mid-October.

Wylie simply had The Woodlands’ number in this matchup. Despite taking an early lead to start the match, the Highlanders spent most of the night playing from behind. The Woodlands was just never able to get into a groove and take control of the match as we’ve seen so many times this season. Despite good stretches of play throughout the match, it seemed as if Wylie took their play to the next level whenever the Highlanders came within 1-2 points of the Pirates.

The win sends Wylie to the Regional Finals where they will meet the Klein Bearkats.

The Woodlands finishes with a 23-4 overall record and a 10-0 record in District 13-6A.
