THE WOODLANDS, TX - The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership (EDP) visited Wildcat PPE’s facility located in The Woodlands Trade Center on Tuesday and had the unique opportunity for a private tour.

This summer during the pandemic, the EDP began discussions with Wildcat PPE to start production in empty warehouse space in The Woodlands Trade Center with aspirations to hire hundreds of workers. Today, they represent the newest major employer for The Woodlands Area.

Wildcat PPE is a leader in design, development, and manufacturing of disposable personal protection equipment supporting our nation’s healthcare professionals and first responders. Their leadership team consists of John Houston, President and CEO and Jeff Conter, Vice President. Since moving into The Woodlands Trade Center, Wildcat PPE has expanded and currently occupies approximately 200,000 SF. Six Million polyethylene and SMS (spunbond meltblown spunbond, non-woven) medical gowns are manufactured monthly. There are two shifts employing 150 in their SMS production facility, and three shifts employing 650 people per shift are operating around the clock in their polyethylene production facility. In total, Wildcat PPE’s employee count represents over 2,250 jobs making them the fourth largest major employer in The Woodlands Area.

“We welcome Wildcat PPE to our esteem list of major employers. They play a critical role in providing much needed jobs during an economic downturn for our area residents. We look forward to their continued success in our community” said Gil Staley, EDP Chief Executive Officer.

“We want everyone to know that large scale Medical PPE manufacturing is available in the United States. Wildcat is able to compete, both in quality and pricing, on an international scale. We provide critical products and jobs to both the local and national community and we will continue to do so for many years to come. We are proud of our product and proud of our employees. There is nothing better than knowing that your company is actually providing much needed supplies to our front-line workers and that every part of the production is done right here, in the United States” said John Houston, President and CEO, Wildcat PPE.
