HOUSTON, TX - TexasOnlineColleges.com has ranked Lone Star College as the No. 1 Hispanic Online Community College in Texas. LSC was also recognized as one of the top Hispanic-Serving Institutions in Texas.

“Lone Star College remains committed to helping all students be successful,” said Stephen C. Head, Ph.D., LSC chancellor. “This recognition is a testament to our faculty and staff who continue to demonstrate extraordinary support and guidance to our students.”

TexasOnlineColleges.com used proprietary methodology that takes into account key metrics for identifying academic excellence including a small student-to-faculty ratio, a high number of online programs offered, a high percentage of online students, high graduation rates and its academic influence based on the number of scholarly contributions made by the institution’s faculty in their fields of study and how often they were cited by other scholarly works.

LSC offers 11 associate degrees and 22 certification/fast degree programs that can be completed 100% online. Students looking for a particular online course can also take advantage of thousands of single courses which can be taken to fulfill other degree requirements. “Lone Star College used stimulus funds to purchase 6,000 computers for students needing assistance this year to help address the digital divide that so many students face,” said Head.

The LSC Laptop Loaner program is available to registered LSC students even if they already have a computer. These computers come fully loaded with the latest software and can be kept for as long as they remain a LSC student.

In addition to being recognized as an online leader in online education by TexasOnlineColleges.com, LSC has also been designated as an Hispanic Serving Institution by the U.S. Department of Education, a recognition that is given to nonprofit institutes with a full-time undergraduate student enrollment that is at least 25% Hispanic.

LSC welcomed 36,729 Hispanic students in fall 2020, representing 42.7% of the total student population.
