HOUSTON, TX - Lone Star College experienced a 1% increase in spring enrollment from a year ago, going against a nationwide trend. LSC reported 82,646 enrolled students in spring 2021 compared to 82,111 in spring 2020.

“I am humbled that more than 80,000 credit students trust Lone Star College to help them continue their education this spring,” said Stephen C. Head, Ph.D., LSC chancellor. “Whether someone is interested in academic transfer programs or workforce training, Lone Star College is ready to help them be successful.”

The data comes from the Spring 2021 LSC Official Day reports and represents credit enrollment only. In all, LSC helps more than 93,000 students start close and go far.

Enrollment in Texas community colleges fell 7.1% from fall 2019 to fall 2020, according to the latest data available. Nationally, community college enrollment dropped 9.5% as reported by the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center.

“We realize we are living in extraordinary times and understand we all have to do more to help each other,” said Head. “Lone Star College faculty, staff and administrators remain committed to providing high-quality education in a safe and responsible manner.”

In order to ensure the safety of LSC students, faculty and staff, everyone is still required to undergo a temperature check and wear a mask when entering an LSC building. Personal Protection Equipment is also provided for those who don’t have it.

LSC offers maximum flexibility with multiple start dates. Students receive the same content and the same credit regardless of when they start to take classes. Many students also qualify for financial assistance which covers educational expenses including tuition, fees, books and supplies. Learn more at LoneStar.edu/Class-Start-Options.
