THE WOODLANDS, TX --

Boys Soccer

The Woodlands 3, Conroe 0

A first-half goal from Hasan Arif and two in the second half by Cody Tice and Nico Gonzalez lifted the Highlanders past the Tigers in the first showdown between the district’s top teams.

Both teams came into Tuesday’s game undefeated in district play, but The Woodlands came out of this match looking like the favorites to take the District 13-6A title. Despite a dangerous Conroe free kick that would have stunned the home side early, The Woodlands controlled this game for the full 80 minutes.

The Highlanders were constantly on the attack, and the few times Conroe looked to get back into the game, the combination of strong defense and goalkeeping kept the Tigers from being the first district opponent to score a goal on The Woodlands.

The Woodlands (10-2-3 / 4-0) will take their nine-game win streak on the road to College Park in the first meeting between rival schools. Conroe (8-1-4 / 3-1) will try to bounce back after their first loss of the season with a home match against Willis.

The Woodlands 6, Conroe 0

The Highlanders doubled the score of the boys’ game to earn their 11th win of the season, and their seventh in a row. Marley Krach and Kennedy Floyd led the way with two goals apiece. Gracie Britten and Madison Carney also added a goal each to bring The Woodlands’ district goals total to 25 through four games.

The Woodlands (11-1 / 4-0) will host College Park in a battle for control of first place in District 13-6A. Conroe (0-10-1 / 0-4) travels to Willis looking for their first win of the season.
