THE WOODLANDS, TX - Today is a special day in college admission. It marks the deadline for students across the country to decide where to attend college. While our seniors have chosen their schools throughout the year, we celebrated this milestone with a class luncheon in the campus courtyard. Yet this day is not just a celebration about where our students will go; it’s also a celebration of how they got there. And most importantly, it’s a time to pause and recognize our students’ transformative growth on their journeys from “Curiosity to Wisdom.”

An open letter from our Director of College Counseling

College admission is, at its heart, about stories, each individual student’s story. This year, our 122 seniors’ college applications included stories about presenting their independent research projects in English and crafting a Rube Goldberg machine in Physics. They wrote about strengthening their confidence in the Glenn Performing Arts Center, growing as leaders on our athletic fields, and refining their problem-solving skills in the Art Barn.

Next year, they’ll continue to write their stories at more than 70 different colleges—a diverse list of schools that beautifully represents their individual backgrounds, goals, and strengths.

And while we can’t wait to hear these future stories, today really is about celebrating. Seniors, we are grateful for your many contributions to Cooper and for your leadership during a year unlike any other. We are proud of how you’ve grown, and we know you’ll continue to nurture the skills you’ve developed here. And of course, we look forward to hearing about the many future milestones in your journeys as lifelong learners.

- Laura Schroeder, Director of College Counseling
