Commissioner Noack asks court to consider a one-time payment to eligible Montgomery County first responders

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack has proposed a one-time payment for Montgomery County first responders. Commissioner Noack requested that the item be placed on the Sept. 14 Commissioners Court agenda.

“COVID has stretched emergency services since the pandemic began,” Commissioner Noack said. “This is an excellent way to recognize the women and men for their outstanding response to the community during these difficult times.”

The one-time payment for eligible first responders would be paid out of the nearly $59 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds that were allocated to Montgomery County in May. Eligibility, based upon ARPA, and the dollar amount will be addressed by the Commissioners Court on September 14, and is likely to apply primarily to the unincorporated areas of the county. As cities and other entities that received ARPA funds directly would likely be excluded.

“I am very hopeful that the court passes this unanimously,” Commissioner Noack said.
