THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Earlier in the season Klein Oak faced Grand Oaks in a tournament and got the best of them. So the Lady Grizzlies wanted to come out and play their best at home. In the first set they came out swinging throwing down a hand full of kills but making some huge blocks on defense. Grand Oaks showed that they came to play and Klein Oaks had to work if they wanted the win.

As the second match began, it was clear that both teams were evenly matched. Some rallies went on back and forward many times before someone ended up scoring. Unfortunately, Grand Oaks suffered a couple of questionable calls and began to make mistakes. Even after regaining their communications the second set was a hard battle for Grand Oaks as they lost the lead many times and continued to make mistakes throughout the set.

“We got to keep working on, you know those little things.” Coach Rogers said about the second set. She continued, “we lost focus there in the second set and we talked about a lot about being in the net and so we got to keep our minds right.”

After the long second set battle, the Lady Grizzlies were riding the momentum and came out as a team putting up points on the board. Klein Oak couldn’t keep up with the intensity and only managed to 2 points on the scoreboard as Grand Oaks racked up 14. After a couple of timeouts, Grand Oaks continued their dominance holding Klein Oak to just 6 points as they finished them off 3-0.

“We had some revenge on our mind,” said Coach Rogers about the tournament earlier in the season. “I was excited that they executed.”

Grand Oaks is set to face Brenham at home on September 9.
