CONROE, TX -- A weeklong celebration has kicked off on Sunday, September 12, and Worthington Manor has joined tens of thousands of assisted living communities across the country for the festivities. National Assisted Living Week® (NALW) – officially sponsored by First Quality in 2021 – continues through Saturday, September 18, and Worthington Manor honors this year’s theme, “Compassion, Community, Caring” which underscores its motto: “Creating Community”.

Opening to residents this winter, Worthington Manor is “Creating Community” by working with referral partners in donating unique Happy Birthday bags for Meals on Wheels Montgomery County. Volunteers from Worthington Manor, Friendly Faces Senior Care, Bristol Hospice Texas, CBC Medical Staffing, Complete Nurse Solutions, Silver Ministry, and Devotion Hospice decorated and stuffed birthday bags for this cause. With the support of its partners, Worthington Manor has created more than 50 bags and expects additional donations for future bags.

“As we are excited to open our doors to residents this winter, we are celebrating National Assisted Living Week by teaming up with local referral partners in providing special Happy Birthday bags for Meals on Wheels Montgomery County,” said Megan Christopher, Executive Director of Worthington Manor. “‘Compassion, Community, Caring’ reflects the hard work and dedication of all coming together to donate time and money for this one-of-a-kind community project that should make a positive impact on Montgomery County area seniors, families and community.”

Based on the success of the community service project during National Assisted Living Week, Worthington Manor plans to continue “Creating Community” by carrying out more plans starting in November. The next community service project supports Meals on Wheels Montgomery County with a Turkey Day Treats drive. This includes a special package of non-perishable “Thanksgiving items” such as canned turkey, dried cranberries, canned fruit and vegetables, stuffing, and pumpkin pie mix to be delivered to the seniors of Montgomery County on Thanksgiving Day.

“We encourage members of the community to keep in touch and visit Worthington Manor’s social media pages to stay informed of our community efforts during National Assisted Living Week,” said Christopher.
