THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Football Relocates for Homecoming Win. Results from the week of September 13, 2021

VARSITY FOOTBALL

9/17 vs. Cistercian* • 47-21 W

Note: Thanks to a last-minute power issue on the field, the Dragons moved their homecoming game and Dragon spirit to Woodlands Christian Academy, which kindly allowed the teams to use their field.

Work and get what you need; work harder and get what you want; the Dragons got what they wanted Friday night winning their first SPC game of the year 47-21 over the Cistercian Hawks. The Dragons came out slow, down 14-7 at the half, but found their form in the second half scoring unanswered touchdowns on all six offensive drives. Junior QB Vaughn McKeever went 20 of 26 for 295 yards and three touchdowns; junior RB Owen Baadsgaard had his best game so far with 15 rushes for 70 yards and one touchdown. Senior WR Will Young could not be stopped all night hauling in seven receptions for 160 yards and one touchdown. Once again, the Dragon defense did their thing, allowing two early scores but then figured it out the rest of the way forcing four turnovers and giving up less than 200 yards of total offense. Senior DE Gamble Reed led the way with six tackles, three of those for a loss and forced two fumbles on strip sacks. Senior S Ronnie Woodall kept the cap on the defense with seven tackles and Iron Man Will Young grabbed an interception in his double-duty role. The Dragons take their show on the road this week, traveling to Dallas to take on the Trojans of the Trinity Valley School. –Coach Daniel Lewis

Coach Jennifer Peyton: We faced a lot of adversity. I loved that the girls trusted their training as volleyball players, playing out of position, but still challenging a 6A public school to four sets. Next week is our first SPC counter match vs. St. John’s.
