THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The board of directors at The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce voted to oppose incorporation of The Woodlands on the November 2, 2021 ballot.

“After hearing from many experts, Montgomery County commissioners, the Montgomery County sheriff’s department, and many members of the business community about incorporation, we believe to become incorporated at this time is not a good idea for our business community or residents. Incorporation is a complex issue that requires more education and planning. We believe there is no reason to rush to become a city. An important decision such as this cannot be undone. Timing of incorporation should be entirely up to our business community and residents to ensure they fully understand the transition plan and impacts,” said JJ Hollie, CEO & president of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber will continue its efforts to educate the business community and residents of The Woodlands about incorporation. For more information contact Margo McZeal, director of governmental affairs at margo.mczeal@woodlandschamber.org.

The Business Advocacy Council connects with Chamber Members, key elected officials and policy leaders to discuss the legislative and policy issues that have a significant impact on employers. The Council assists in developing Chamber policy positions that are advocated at the respective levels of government to improve the business climate. The team meets year-round on the third Friday of every month and is open to all Chamber members.
