The John Cooper School Hosts 12th Annual Dig Pink Week Oct. 12 - Oct. 14; This school-wide fundraising event supports breast cancer research

THE WOODLANDS, TX — Dig Pink at The John Cooper School is a volleyball fundraising event that supports The Side-Out Foundation, an organization that’s set out to challenge the foundations of cancer care.

Coaches, athletes, students, and community members come together during Dig Pink Week to make a difference.

“It’s a long standing tradition,” said Head Volleyball Coach Jennifer Peyton. “We’ve been one of the top raising schools in the country.”

“The Side-Out Foundation helps people with breast cancer regain control of their lives – and we started our fundraising efforts through the sport of volleyball. Our Executive Director and Founder, Rick Dunetz, was a high school volleyball coach when his mother, Gloria, was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Together he and his father, Bryant, decided to tell her story, and the story of all those with metastatic breast cancer, through dedicated volleyball matches across the U.S., where communities would rally and fundraise to support breast cancer research. This is how Dig Pink was born – and it is still a central program of The Side-Out Foundation.”

Event Coordinators, Rivers Kolesar and Grace Minarvick are both juniors at John Cooper. They each conveyed the importance of the cause and the impact that Dig Pink makes.

The community can support by attending the Volleyball games vs. Duchesne at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Oct. 14.; purchasing this year’s event t-shirt, buying Chick-Fil-A at concessions, donating to the campaign and partaking in the raffle. You can also eat at MOD Pizza on the 13th and Chiller Bees on the 14th! (Let them know you’re with The John Cooper School)

The games are free, and there is a mask mandate once inside.
