Woodlands Mall Announces It Will be Closed for Thanksgiving
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Mall today announced that its management has made the decision to close the mall on Thanksgiving Day, November 25. The mall will be open for “business as usual” the day before - closing at the usual time - and will reopen the morning of Friday, November 26.
One special day to be set aside for employees and retailers to spend time with loved ones
“We have made this decision in the hopes that this will allow our tenants, shoppers, and employees to spend more time with friends, family and loved ones,” said Lindsay Kahn, director of public relations for Brookfield Properties, which owns The Woodlands Mall along with a handful of other major area shopping malls.
This is the second year in a row for the mall to be closed on Thanksgiving, but for better reasons this time around. “Last year, we were closed mainly due to being in the height of the Covid pandemic,” said Kahn. While the management is always aware of and sensitive to the safety and security of the mall’s visitors, this year’s decision was more guided by a sense of family togetherness for one special day.
While the mall itself will be closed for that Thursday, preparations will still be in place for the busiest shopping day of the year: the day after.
“Black Friday remains a cherished tradition and we look forward to opening our doors at 9 a.m. on Friday, November 26 to kick off the holiday shopping season,” said Kahn. “Additionally, extended hours will begin Friday, December 10 and run through Christmas Eve to provide ample time for our community to purchase gifts in person or via curbside-pickup.”
Khan also points out the significant benefits of shopping in a brick-and-mortar environment over online purchasing. “While online shoppers may find themselves waiting for days, weeks, or even months as the supply chain situation unstrangles, shoppers in The Woodlands Mall can enjoy instant gratification as they walk out of our stores with their purchases in hand.” In addition, a single shopping center such as this mall employs - and is responsible for the employment of - countless hundreds of local workers.
While Kahn, Brookfield Properties, and the retailers who inhabit The Woodlands Mall may enjoy the day off, they eagerly look forward to a surging and thriving holiday shopping season, and can’t wait to see what 2022 brings.
