THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Memorial Hermann IRONMAN competition is on its way with a late April arrival date, putting athletes and motorists alike on notice. However, there’s also a more youth-centric event happening a week earlier that’s open to our younger competitors.

Healthy events planned for ages 1-17 at April event

On April 16, a week before IRONMAN, Children’s Memorial Hermann at The Woodlands is hosting the 2022 IRONKIDS Texas Fun Run event at Town Green Park. This event is for youngsters aged one through 17.

The IRONKIDS Fun Run offers young athletes the opportunity to feel the excitement of competition while enjoying the outdoors and promoting healthy living. The races include a mile run for ages 5-17, a half-mile run for ages 3-8, and the sure-to-be-popular Toddler Dot Trot, an 80-foot course for independent walkers aged 1-3 years old.

On top of the races events, the park will be jam-packed with fun activities for families of all ages, including a mingle with mascots, an obstacle course with games, a photo booth, arts and crafts, an inflatable slide, ambulance tours, and snow cones.

The festivities begin at 8:30 in the morning. Registration is $20 per child and can be done at ironman.com/ironkids. Each athlete receives a goodie bag with a race bib, finisher shirt, medal, and the pride of calling themselves an IRONKID. Goodie bags can be picked up in the days leading up to the event, on April 14 and 15, 3pm to 7pm both days, at The Woodlands Family YMCA, 6145 Shadowbend Place.
