THE WOODLANDS, TX (March 29, 2022) -- HopePointe Anglican Church is presenting a Palm Sunday Concert, “The Seven Last Words of Christ,” with choir, soloists, organ, chamber orchestra and dance.

The Seven Last Words of Christ” will be presented with choir, soloists, organ, chamber orchestra and dance

The Cathedral Choir of HopePointe Church, Austin Hunt, Choirmaster, in The Woodlands will present “The Seven Last Words of Christ” of Theodore Dubois at 5:00 pm, Palm Sunday, April 10. HopePointe is located at 3333 S Panther Creek Drive in The Woodlands.

The concert - which will be less than an hour in duration - will feature Jan Cornelius, soprano, Austin Hunt, tenor, Ben LeClair, bass, and organist Sherryl Smith Pond, under the direction of Rob Hunt, conductor. Child care for walking through age 4 is being provided by registration at https://hopepointe.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/1208574 with cost of $5. The concert is without cost, but a free will offering will be appreciated.

In addition, the music will be interpreted through dance by the Ad Deum Dance Company, a professional Christian modern dance company based in Houston and represented in fine art as well.

The texts (which are actually phrases, not individual “words”) of the “Seven Last Words of Christ” have been the inspiration to composers and theologians through the centuries and are all taken from those sayings uttered by Jesus between his crucifixion and death as recorded in the Gospels.

The concert is the launch of a new fine arts series at the church, “The Master Works.” It is the vision of the series to bring inspired, professional musical offerings to the North Houston area.
