HOUSTON, TX -- Teach For America (TFA) Houston and ConocoPhillips recently renewed their partnership to advance science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) opportunities to TFA teachers through the ConocoPhillips STEM Teacher Cohort.

The cohort allows TFA Houston educators to collaborate exclusively with ConocoPhillips employees interested in serving as classroom volunteers, career day speakers, or science fair judges to expose students to the benefits of a STEM education.

“ConocoPhillips and TFA Houston have worked together to advance equity in education for nearly 20 years,” said Ty Johnson, Senior Advisor, Sponsorships + STEM Programs, ConocoPhillips. “Our long-time partnership aligns with ConocoPhillips’ commitment to fund programs that support Houston-area STEM teachers in their work in shaping the next generation of leaders.”

Through the ConocoPhillips STEM Teacher Cohort, ConocoPhillips also provides the funding to help recruit, select, train, and support middle and high school STEM teachers in under-resourced schools throughout Houston.

“TFA Houston is grateful to ConocoPhillips for its commitment to providing STEM educational opportunities to our network of educators. It’s partnerships like this one that help us advance our mission of ensuring that one day all children will have access to an equitable education,” said Tiffany Cuellar Needham, Executive Director of TFA Houston.

The current cohort comprises 10 members from Yes Preparatory, Houston Independent School District, and Aldine ISD. For more information about TFA Houston, visit www.teachforamerica.org.
