THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands High School was the home for the second game of the district season. Friday night, The Woodlands Highlanders faced the undefeated Conroe Tigers who have seen a near perfect season.

As the game began, the sands were electric with fans from both sides of the city, you could pretty much cut the tension with a knife. Conroe was up to serve first but it was The Woodlands who would get points on the board. From the beginning, The Highlander’s defense was rock solid which made Conroe struggle to get anything going. Although The Woodland’s defense was strong, Conroe’s Mckayla Griffin’s heavy hand was able to punch through their wall.

Half way through the first and second set, the Conroe defense got into a rhythm stopping The Woodlands attacks but both times fell short. In the first The Woodlands took the set, 25-14 and in the second 25-15.

In the third, the Tigers woke up and was able to get near The Highlander lead. Their offense was able to break through the defense and attacks from The Woodlands fell short. Conroe came within one point of the lead but then The Woodlands took over. The Highlanders would break the 32-0 winning streak from the Conroe Tigers and win the match in three sets.

The Woodlands goes on to play another power house in Grand Oaks on Tuesday night.
