Results from the week of September 19, 2022

VARSITY FOOTBALL

9/23 vs. Oakridge School* • 60-3 W

“The ladder of success is best climbed by stepping on the rungs of opportunity.”*

The Dragons continued their championship climb on Friday as they pummeled the Oakridge Owls 60-3. The Dragons got down early but scored 60 unanswered to send the Owls back to their Arlington nest unhappy. Cooper used a balanced attack to dismantle the Owl defense, rushing for 240 yards and five touchdowns, while passing for another 195 yards and three touchdowns. Dean Calhoun once again carried the load rushing for 147 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns. QB Vaughn McKeever was 12/21 for 177 yards finding multiple receivers running free including Kaeden Davis and Alonso Barrenchea each grabbing their first touchdowns of the season. The Dragon defense is only giving up 11 points on average this season, and this Friday was no different. Carson Berger continued his stand-out year, racking up multiple tackles and influencing chaos in the Owl backfield. The Dragons forced the Owls in multiple three-and-outs, causing two safeties, three fumbles giving their friends on the Dragon offense short fields all night. Nico Signorelli again locked down his side from any Owl aerial threat, and Joe Bisso controlled the line of scrimmage all night. The Dragons take their show on the road next week as they battle their old championship foes in the Cistercian Hawks; the showdown takes place at Hawks Field in Irving, Texas this Friday at 7. –Coach Daniel Lewis
