HS Football: College Park Shuts Out Caney Creek at Woodforest Stadium
WOODLANDS, TX -- The College Park Cavaliers hosted the Caney Creek Panthers Thursday night at Woodforest Bank Stadium. Second place in the district, College Park, looks to tie New Caney for first place. Caney Creek looks to get their first win of the season.
College Park’s Conner Dunphy returned to the field after being out due to an injury surgery. The new quarterback will take College Park’s offense under his wing as he searches for his first win of the season.
The Cavaliers showed dominance as the game started shutting down the Panthers offense immediately in their first drive. Dunphy would hit the field, on College Park’s first possession, and hand it off to Eugene Burnett. Burnett would find the end-zone and give College Park their first points quickly in the first quarter.
Before the second quarter, Dunphy would showcase his arm and find Carter Deering for a 30-yard pass. Deering would out run two defenders and take it to the house for an 84-yard touchdown.
College Park would dominate the second quarter, shutting down the Caney Creek run and keeping pressure on quarterback Christian Aguilar.
Dunphy would again showcase his deep ball with a touchdown pass to Cole Snodgrass. And just before the half he would throw a 20-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Bryce Anderson making it 27-0.
To start the second half, Andrew Powdrell for College Park would receive the kickoff and return it 96-yards to the other side of the field. Caney Creek would make a couple of drives but would be stopped just short of the red-zone by the College Park defense.
Cole Snodgrass would once again go up for a pass and just tap his left foot in the end-zone for his second touchdown of the game.
With one final drive, College Park would close out Caney Creek 48-0. They face Willis next Friday at Yates stadium while Caney Creek takes the week off to prepare for Willis in two weeks.
