THE WOODLANDS, TX – After two years of not being able to meet in person, more than 800 guests gathered for Memorial Hermann’s In the Pink of Health luncheon at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott to raise awareness and money to fight breast and ovarian cancer.

In 2020, the event was virtual and, in 2021, it was canceled just weeks prior to the event due to health safety concerns. Despite last year’s cancellation, In the Pink of Health was able to distribute $500,000 to advance its mission, thanks to the generosity of the event sponsors.

This year, In the Pink welcomed back its top sponsors, past sponsors, and many new sponsors. Richie’s Specialty Pharmacy served as Presenting Sponsor. Tricia and Jack Futcher once again stepped up generously as the Tricia and Jack Futcher Legacy Sponsors. Adcetera renewed their Brand Patron sponsorship and Pink Diamond sponsors Northside Imports, Mary Ann and Marty Young, and Jessica and Trey Brice in Memory of Melissa Preston supported the event at the $25,000 level.

The festivities kicked off on Oct. 13 at the Peach Orchard Venue with the Premier Party – an event to thank the sponsors. Chambers Creek served as the Premier Party Sponsor and the Peach Orchard was the venue and floral sponsor. The room was adorned with myriad flowers in pink hues and was abuzz with excitement, conversation, and revelry. The food, provided by Wicked Whisk was outstanding and guests enjoyed entertainment by the Kelley Peters Trio, and a bid board laden with incredible packages, including a trip to Lake Cuomo Italy and a signed Master’s Flag.

The following day, the luncheon was at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott. Brady Hull served as master of ceremonies and there were heartwarming and riveting presentations made by Ruth and Scott Hiller who paid tribute to past In the Pink of Health chair Melissa Preston; Ashley Byers who shared her survivor story; and featured speaker, Jennifer Griffin, Fox News Pentagon correspondent, who shared her battle with and victory over breast cancer.

Since its inception, In the Pink of Health has distributed over $7.6 million to support breast and ovarian cancer initiative, including 3-D mammograms for the underserved, technology at the Memorial Hermann Breast Care Center, vital resources for newly-diagnosed cancer patients, and ovarian awareness initiatives and support through partner, OVARCOME. Funding also supports Canopy, the Cancer Survivorship Center on the campus of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center where all cancer patients and their families will find a myriad of free support services including counseling for adults and children, yoga, grief support groups, and at least 40 other programs each month that support families fighting cancer. The distribution of funds is determined each January by a core group of committed In the Pink of Health volunteers and Memorial Hermann leadership.
