THE WOODLANDS, TX – Quote of the week: “What I don't like about office Christmas parties is looking for a job the next day.” – Phyllis Diller

The weather is finally back on track for the holiday season, and we have some wonderful winter wonderland events on our Top 5 list to help you smoothly zoom through this last full week before Christmas!

It’s a very special Open House at the Mitchell Library on Ashlane Way today as they celebrate the holiday season with a special event replete with refreshments and a special appearance by Santa. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy learning about all the library has to offer (which is a lot more than just books, trust us).

Santa Claus pops up at so many places this season that Woodlands Online has a separate guide for just his appearances. But his wife certainly isn’t resting at home with her feet up, either! Enjoy special family time decorating individual gingerbread houses, while visiting with Mrs. Claus, delighting in Christmas story time and creating lacing gingerbread men. Museum admission is required to participate in Mrs. Claus' Gingerbread House Workshop, which is only $5 per child Member and Non-member. One Gingerbread Workshop is included with this ticket. Twenty minutes are allowed within the session for Gingerbread Workshop, and seating is first come first served.

It’s the perfect week for some down-home, good ol’ country holiday entertainment, and Dosey Doe - The Big Barn has just the treat. Join them for dinner and show with The Gatlin Brothers themselves and their Country & Christmas Show Tour. This group of country music superstars has been in business for decades, and they’ve got a show planned that’ll make you feel about the outside world’s shenanigans for a while. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a delicious pre-show dinner, and opening act Jessee Lee & Hadley Jo take the stage an hour later, prepping the crowd for an 8:30 concert.

Saturday & Sunday, December 17 - 18
One nice thing about The Woodlands is that the odds are pretty good that the lake won’t freeze over. This is particularly good news for the annual Jingle Boats event, sponsored by The Woodlands Township, happening this weekend both days starting at 9:00 a.m. Participants will depart from Riva Row Boat House in search of wrapped presents on our local shores along the lower Waterway, then back to the boat house for holiday treats and a very special visitor! Pre-registration is required, and we encourage you to sign up just as soon as you read this, as it’s a very popular event. The fee is $45 per tandem kayak (two people – one child’s presents included).
