UPDATE: MCTX Sheriff Arrest Organized Crime Suspects

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- UPDATE: After a thorough night of investigation by Deputies and Detectives, two adult males and one juvenile male were charged with Felony Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. The two adult males were identified as 19-year-old Lamar Campbell and 19-year-old Mark Crooms, both from Houston. The juvenile arrested was a 16-year-old male from Houston (per state law, the juvenile’s name cannot be released). A fourth suspect, identified as 37-year-old Culberson Campbell III of Houston, was in a stolen vehicle from Montgomery County and was arrested by the Houston Police Department after a short pursuit.


On Sunday, February 5, 2023, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a Burglary of a Vehicle in the Town Center Zone in The Woodlands. While investigating the car burglary, Deputies learned eight other vehicle burglaries occurred in the business districts along I-45, in addition to the Westwood Magnolia Parkway Improvement District Area along FM 1488 and near FM 2978. Through diligent, yet rapid work Deputies were able to track down the suspects, and placed them in custody at FM 1488 and Kuykendahl as they were headed back toward their home in the Houston area. Through the investigation, Deputies were also able to discover these suspects were responsible for the theft of a vehicle from the Xscape Movie Theatre in Conroe. Deputies worked with the Houston Police Department and were able to find the stolen vehicle. After a short pursuit, a fourth adult suspect was taken into custody.

The three suspects (two adults and one juvenile) arrested by the Sheriff’s Office were charged with Burglary of a Vehicle and Engaging in Organized Crime.
Deputies and Detectives are still on multiple scenes processing evidence and conducting interviews. More information will be released tomorrow.
