THE WOODLANDS, TX – Though it will be relatively bright and chilly today – in fact, our high of 55 and our low of 33 will both be thirteen degrees below the average – dropping pressure, rising dew point, active humidity, and growing cloud coverage will work together throughout the weekend to make it gradually warmer and greyer.

Cool start, warm weekend, hot next week

Today, our rising clouds and winds will abruptly turn around and die down shortly after lunch, and a couple of hours after that the temperatures will start dropping. We’ll be into the 30s before midnight, but the afternoon and evening will be just perfect for any outdoor activities you might have planned. In fact, The Woodlands has the perfect outside spot for total family fun and relaxation in the form of Rob Fleming Park; pop by with a kite and a picnic basket and have a free ball!

The overnight blanket-and-furnace weather will morph into a bright Saturday sunrise that will soon give way to mounting clouds. As the clouds move it, the humidity will plummet, keeping the high in the mid 50s. Perfect weather for the annual Muddy Trails 5K and Crawfish Cookoff. Later in the afternoon, however, the new weather pattern will emerge. Humidity will turn around again and start climbing back up, along with the dew point, and this time the clouds will trap in some warmth to give us a low in the upper 40s.

Saturday night will be horrible for stargazing, thanks to the clouds, which will keep the sky two-thirds covered come dawn on Sunday morning. Throughout the day, the temperatures will claw themselves out of the 40s into the 50s through the 60s, finally bringing us a high in the mid 70s by mid-afternoon. We’ll also see a mild uptick in the winds as the dew point steadily rises and the pressure steadily drops. It might be a good evening to hit Fielding’s Wood Grill as they get into the Mardi Gras spirit with their special Cajun Features menu.

As you get to bed Sunday night to prepare for another standard work week, enjoying overnight temps that will be no less than the mid 50s, expect the clouds and warming temperatures next week to continue…
