HS Girls Soccer Playoffs: The Woodlands Lady Highlanders Soar to Area Round
SPRING, TX -- The Woodlands Lady Highlanders traveled to Spring High School to face the Spring Lions in the bi-district round of the playoffs on Thursday night.
The Lady Highlanders came to play as the first seed team attacked the ball and the net as the whistle sounded. Savannah Knight was the first to score for The Woodlands quickly giving them the 1-0 lead. Shortly after Janey Kauppinen would hit the back of the net making the score 2-0.
As the net became crowded, Spring would lose track of the ball and it would find its way across the line as it bounced off a Lions player. Before the halftime buzzer, Freya Hayes with The Woodlands, would score with seven minutes remaining.
Up 4-0 and back from halftime, The Woodlands would continue to attack the net and dominate the Spring side of the field. Aspen Butaud, Natasha Budisa, and Kendall Repa would all score for The Woodlands in the second half.
Unfortunately for Spring, the undefeated Lady Highlanders would be too much for them winning the game 8-0. The Woodlands will move on and face Cypress Ranch or Klein in the Area Round.
