Austin, TX -- The Kelly Reeves Athletics Complex in Austin was host to the Regional Semifinals and Finals in which The Woodlands went up against an undefeated Wiley East team. This match would determine if either team would move on to the finals on Saturday.

In the beginning of the match The Woodlands struggled with the Wilye East defense but managed to get a couple of shots on goal. On the other end of the field Wilye East was able to get more shots on goal but The Woodlands defense would tighten up and stop many of their attacks.

The teams would alternate possessions keeping the ball at mid field and in The Woodlands red zone. Wilye East would constantly attack the ball but The Woodlands would keep pressure just enough for them to come short of a goal.

In the second half, Wiley East heated up and was able to cut through The Woodlands defense. In the 45th minute of regulation, the Raiders were able to sneak one past the goalie and take the lead 1-0.

The Woodlands would strike back almost instantly and find the back of the net but would be called offsides. Wilye East would keep their lead and increase it 10 minutes later with another goal just above the goalies head.

With just 15 minutes left, the Raiders would strike once again giving them a commanding 3-0 lead. The Woodlands would try to chip away at that lead but time wasn’t on their side. Wilye East would move on to the Regional Finals against a strong Bridgeland team.

Coach Whitlock would reflect on the season and what it took to get to this point, 'It took alot, our district is strong.'

She also addressed the seniors on the team to, 'Get their heads up because they have done so much in the past four years, more so than most seniors ever experienced in their high school soccer career.'
