THE WOODLANDS, TX – YES to YOUTH is joining with US Department of Health and Human Services Children’s Bureau in recognizing April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. This Montgomery County-based organization, whose mission is to help children in need, is using this month-long observance along with others in our community to educate everyone about child abuse and neglect prevention.

A report of a child being abused is filed every 10 seconds, according to the Child Welfare Information Gateway

Preventing child abuse means setting the stage for healthy, stable families and providing parents the tools they need for nurturing their children. YES to YOUTH has programs and services that help families and children. Their crisis intervention staff is available 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to handle emergency and immediate crisis situations such as family violence. Their professional staff is here to assist youth and their families with life-threatening situations.

Also, through BridgeWay Emergency Youth Shelter, YES to YOUTH provides a safe refuge and home to abused, homeless, neglected, and sex-trafficked youth. It is a home for boys and girls ages 10 - 17, who need a temporary place to stay that is safe and secure.

YES to YOUTH assures upstanding member of the community that they can help prevent child abuse by:

• Being a good neighbor.
• Offering to babysit.
• Donating used children's clothing, furniture, and toys for another family.
• Being kind and supportive of new parents.
• Responding to families in crisis and linking families to YES to YOUTH for needed services.
?
Additionally, YES to YOUTH is celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Month by honoring all the volunteers at the organization.

“We appreciate our volunteers’ willingness to give their time and service. Their support of YES to YOUTH allows us to continue to fulfill our mission and serve youth and families in our community each year. We have volunteering opportunities for events, providing dinner for the youth at BridgeWay, basic needs drive, and cleaning/organization projects.
