MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- On Saturday, April 26, Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, Texas (Habitat MCTX), held a heartfelt home dedication ceremony in its Cedar Creek neighborhood, welcoming three families — Sade, Jamie, and Manuel and Esther — to their brand-new homes.

Through Habitat MCTX’s homeownership program, these families were able to achieve the dream of homeownership, thanks to their dedication and hard work. The program provides a hand-up, not a handout, to neighbors who work hard every day but do not qualify for a traditional mortgage. Each family completed 350 hours of sweat equity, demonstrating their commitment to building a better future for themselves and their loved ones. This milestone was celebrated with their families, friends, and community supporters, all of whom stood beside them as they marked this special occasion.

“We’re not just building homes — we’re building hope,” said Vicki Johnson, Executive Director of Habitat MCTX. “This event is a testament to the power of partnership and community. It’s always a joy to see families step into the next chapter of their lives with strength and stability.”

The homes were made possible thanks to the support of volunteers and home sponsors including the Can-Do Crew, The John Cooper School, Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Parish, and The Woodlands Methodist Church. Their generosity and hands-on support helped turn the dream of homeownership into a reality.

Habitat MCTX’s Cedar Creek neighborhood continues to grow as a place of opportunity, stability and community for local families. With only four homes left to build, the neighborhood will soon be home to 129 families in total. Infrastructure work has already begun on Habitat MCTX’s next major development — Marble Creek in Magnolia, Texas — with home construction expected to begin in the fall of 2026.
